What Are You Working Towards?

Imagine yourself in a very hard place about 150 years ago. Trying to make a better life for your family. Perhaps even trying to move your family to a different country because of the opportunity there. You worked and toiled your entire life to increase the status of your family. Then you pass.

Fast forward 150 years. A member from your family who is thriving because of your work and toil is a lazy, cheezy poof-eating, couch potato, and also a drunk.

This is a descendant of yours.

He is going through bags of cheezy poofs and cases of beer to entertain himself and live a lazy life. Because of this laziness, he will affect a down-line of family for years, if not decades, and if not centuries. This guy has done a disservice and dishonor to not only you that lived 150 years ago, but for the people to come after him.

This is a sobering thought and truth. You cannot go through life in a drunken daze, working for your “First Name,” and not for your “Last Name.” Think of all of your family before you and what they went through to get you where you are today.

Seize the day. You are here for a reason. The Almighty has given you another day to live, to work, to increase your status, and to praise Him. Leave a legacy for yourself not only here, but in the hereafter.
