For starters, we got tested for COVID right before we left for our vacation in Punta Cana at RIU Republica. We tested negative, so that meant a green light for us to travel without putting anyone in danger (also we had COVID about a month ago, so we weren’t at risk either).
Upon arriving in Punta Cana, we were greeted by people with beautiful attitudes as well as beautiful weather. We flew into Punta Cana International Airport. It was one of those airports where you walk down off of the plane directly onto the runway – an unexpected treat. As the warm sun hit us in the face, I stripped off my Nike hoodie and prepared for the solar bliss.
We walked through the airport and were all the way through customs with our bags in about 15 minutes. It was unbelievable how fast we got through everything. I believe it was mainly due to a lack of visitors and travel restrictions.
We hopped on the bus and headed off to RIU Republica.
Everything was so nice when we checked in, and the staff was very helpful. Upon getting to the room, we realized that we were given a room with double beds. That wasn’t in our plans to sleep on separate beds. 😄
I ran back down to the desk and the staff member that was working there motioned for me to come back up.
I let him know that we had a room with double beds and we would like to switch to a different room.
He said, “I’ve got something for you my friend.”
He did some magic on the computer and handed me a different key.
We went do a different elevator this time and up to our room. This new room was huge, amazing, and had a beautiful view of the ocean. He really hooked us up. We were so grateful.
This resort is huge. If you haven’t been there, or are reading this in hopes of visiting the RIU Republica, know that you won’t be disappointed. They also take extra precautions and always made sure that people were wearing masks due to the pandemic.
We had a blast, and are already looking into some options from RIU in other locations. You will ENJOY your time at RIU Republica in Punta Cana!!!
